Life-Changing Book Review

A Rare Find

It's not often, these days, that I drop everything to dedicate an entire blog post to a book review, but today is that day.

As I sit at my desk, I'm still sipping my morning coffee, hair not yet brushed, still shaken as I contemplate the story I've just read. Not shaken from fear; shaken from being deeply affected.

The book in question?

Twice in a Lifetime by Breyanna I.L. Evans

On the surface, its a book about falling in love and second chances. But as the story unfolds, a broader view of the complexities of relationships in all their splendor, unravels.

Kalli Morgan, the main female character, carries us along on her heartbreaking journey of love, loss and self-discovery. Along the way, Kalli envelops us in her friendships, sibling relationships, family, extended family, in-laws and, of course, romance.

But this is not some frivolous, straightforward falling in love romance, this is one that dives into the depths of feeling. Feeling deeply.

The author, Breyanna I.L. Evans, writes Kalli's story with equal measures of grace and wit. She discusses the emotional gravity of healing with the added comfort of resolution. Evans has written a treasure in Twice in a Lifetime, a story that will linger long after the last page.

As the author mentions, there are trigger warnings, so please be mindful of those when contemplating whether the book is a good fit for you.

Why I Would Recommend This Book:

Twice in a Lifetime covers topics that almost everyone goes through, making it a relatable story. The author's writing style is an easy-flowing prose despite the heavy topics.

Not only does the story contain themes of love and second chances, it also talks about relationship longevity (a topic close to my heart) and flexibility within relationship boundaries.

Favourite Quote:

"I had experienced some of the very darkest moments of my life [...] I had fought with myself over feeling happy and finding love again..."

My thoughts: Our struggles are always internal, and so is our healing, which makes our journey unique to us and not comparable to others.

My Only Complaint:

I hope there is a sequel in the works!

Or here on Goodreads: 5 Star Review

I’d give 10 stars if that was a thing.

I own this book in two formats; ebook which I preordered and a treasured hardcover which I won directly from the author!
