The Poison Within: If Your Heart is Rotten

The lies he tells himself, afraid to look in the mirror,

Poison of hate listening from behind closed doors,

Others to blame, yet he can’t hold anyone accountable,

For the misdeeds are his and his alone.

The truth might stare him in the eyes, but fear keeps his heart cold,

Accepting responsibility is harder, so he shouts at others—it’s easier this way,

To point fingers, shirk wrongdoings, and avoid the sky,

While the mirror cracks from his own lies.
