Elizabeth Luke - Goodreads Scam Warning

Hey everyone. I just learned about a new scam being run on Goodreads by A publishing Services company. They create fake accounts on Goodreads and use an image and name of a famous author and friend you. You can tell it's a fake account because these authors will have like 3-4 friends total! LOL..

Then, they reach out to authors, saying they are impressed with your book. After some small talk, they suggest a "friend" of theirs who can help you with sales. They then provide the contact info for that "friend".

They recommend a person named Elizabeth Luke elizabethluke807@gmail.com, and then she engages with you to get your business (which I'm sure is a ripoff). The next day, the "author" will have ended your friendship and removed all the email evidence, but I saved some, so I'm gonna let Goodreads know. Haha

Just to get more information on the scam, I even emailed Elizabeth Luke. When I incorrectly named the author who sent me to her, she didn't even bat an eye, which makes me realize that she's even dumber than I originally thought. She doesn't even know the authors she's using. Idiot!

Warning Indie Authors, do not fall for this new scam! These people do not deserve your money.

Count Fathom Thank you for this. I've been contacted in the same way. All the interactions felt AI. Everything about this screams scam.

J. Bruno Thank you, I too have been contacted by this scammer. though no money has been exchanged, she/he/they have sent numerous emails under a slightly different email address. appearently using different emails for different victims. I decided to use my Gemini Pro account to do a deep dive into this and it confirmed that this is undoubtedly a scam. Most noted as Author in Wolfes Clothes. elizabeth has no major freelance platform presents. not even a website. There is however a presents on twitter/x but thats most likely a contrived account. BEWARE. THIS IS A SCAM!

A.M. Ismail Thank you so much for sharing this warning! 🙏 I actually received an email from them too, and luckily I saw your post before replying. Really appreciate you taking the time to alert everyone — this kind of info helps protect a lot of us indie authors.

Samantha Beneke Sad, I also got an email from them. :(

Georgina Warren I got an email from an author that provided a similar email. I'm a bit suspicious. I have not contacted her and I have had a string of friend requests from authors that have only a few ratings and no reviews.

I also heard of an author friend that received five stars on their book and see those ratings retracted when they checked later, it's like a weird type of ghosting.
