Do You Have a Dark Days Prescription?

Today marks the release of Canyon of Deceit, the newest romantic suspense novel from bestselling Christian author DiAnn Mills. I had the privilege of previewing this gripping story—and loved it! Before you check out the book description below, DiAnn graciously paused her busy launch week to share encouragement with us. She reminds us that while Jesus never promised us a life free from trials, He did give us His Word filled with comfort, strength, and peace.

Jesus never promised a life on earth filled with one happy day after another.

Neither did He promise good health, financial security, peace, great kids, writing contracts, speaking engagements, huge social media platforms, and our list goes on.

Jesus assured us of the opposite: John 15:18 ESV “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.”

But He did fill His Word with the perfect prescriptions to help us journey through life. I’d like to share twelve verses that comfort me when the world is hurling grenades into my life.

Encouragement from Scripture for Hard DaysJohn 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”Isaiah 41:10 “…fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”Psalm 40:1-3 “I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.”2 Samuel 22:29 “You, LORD, are my lamp; the LORD turns my darkness into light.”Isaiah 40:31 “…but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”Philippians 4:6-8 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.Psalm 139:13-14 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”Jeremiah 20:9 If I say, “I will not mention him or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fireshut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot. (This is my life verse.)James 1:2-3 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

The Psalms are filled with emotion, encouragement, and inspiration. I encourage you to read one daily.

The Spirit of the Lord is inside us to help us overcome the evils of this world. When dark days hit, do you have a Scriptural Prescription?

Hold on tight, my friends.

Canyon of Deceit

A rescue team searches for a missing young girl and suspects all is not as it seems in this high-stakes romantic suspense novel from the author of Lethal Standoff and Facing the Enemy.

When wilderness survival expert Therese Palmer receives a frantic phone call from former colleague Professor Rurik Ivanov, she is shocked by the news that his young daughter, Alina, is missing—and that Rurik wants Therese’s help finding her. She’s sure Rurik hasn’t given her the whole story . . . especially since he refuses to report the kidnapping to the police. Yet with a child’s life hanging in the balance, Therese can’t turn down this mission. She knows the clock is ticking and she can’t do this alone.

Therese reaches out to Texas Ranger Blane Gardner, whom she met seven months ago during one of her training courses in wilderness survival skills. Blane’s specialized training and background with the Crisis Negotiation Unit make him uniquely prepared for this search-and-rescue mission. He agrees to help Therese and to accept Rurik’s terms to keep Alina’s disappearance quiet, and as the two begin working together, Therese is determined the spark growing between them won’t distract from their mission to save Alina.

Traversing deep into the desert of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Alina’s last known location, Therese and Blane struggle to separate truth from lies within the mix of intel they’re receiving. As they close in on answers that suggest the involvement of Russian organized crime and a high-profile international assassination attempt, they must fight to rescue Alina before she becomes an innocent casualty of a much bigger plot—no matter the risk to their own lives.
