364 Days Until Halloween by Allison Edwards
Not everyone is thrilled with Halloween. 364 Days Until Halloween by Allison Edwards explores one child’s story of dreading the spooky, scary holidays.
Kai doesn’t like Halloween. In fact, he spends an entire year dreading that it will come. In this whimsical rhyming story, follow along as a child conquers his fears about a holiday that comes with mixed feelings.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but all the spooky, creepy, and gory decorations and costumes, never mind walking up to a stranger’s door and asking for treats, can be frightening for youngsters. The author has used her years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor to create a charming and encouraging story for ages 4 to 8.
Even though the book cover is dark, artist Jennifer Zivoin kept her illustrations more playful and quirky than ominous, something that the reader will enjoy once they flip the book open.
Parents, caregivers, and educators will want to pick up a copy of this one. Now, I wish my girls were still little.
