A Few Background Facts To The Secrets Of Borteen Bay Box Set

I had mixed feelings about seeing all seven of my published novels in a box set on sale for 99p, but somehow it also brought up a few memories about writing these books which I thought I would share.

Book 1 – The Girl on the Beach – My original title for this book was Who is Harry Dixon? I think Harry Dixon is my favourite of my heroes and the art exhibition at the beginning of the book was inspired by a real life one at my son’s school. This is how I imagined Borteen High School to look like :

Book 2 – The Truth Lies Buried – The original title for this one was Rock, Paper, Scissors because of the game the hero and heroine played when they were children. This book has a particular place in my heart as it does contain a few real life situations I have found myself in and some family sayings that my late mother was fond of. The book also included Wilf the dog pictured below.

Book 3 – Christmas at Borteen Bay – By the point of writing this novel, I realised that publishers often change your title no matter how long it has taken to dream up something you feel is appropriate, so for book three I didn’t bother being inventive and would you believe it – they kept my generic title. Lol.

Book 4 – Sunny Days at the Beach – I had a fun research trip for this title on a gin distillery tour at Silent Pool Gin.

Book 5 – Christmas at the Little Beach Café – when I saw the cover design for this book which included the jaunty seagull with a Christmas hat, I knew I needed to put him into my book, so Ryan the seagull was included in the story at the editing stage.

Book 6 – Summer at Lucerne Lodge – Original title Rosie and Tanner. This was actually the first book of the series I ever wrote and includes lots of references to the therapies I used to work with in my day job.

Book 7 – A New Arrival at Borteen Bay – This book features Buzz, a minor character from some of the other books – he runs a crystal shop and draws labyrinth paths on the beach for people to walk around in exchange for a donation to charity.

There is so much of my blood, sweat and tears over many years included in these seven books and I do hope that readers have and will enjoy reading them. All seven are available for a short time at the bargain price of 99p here.
