I Come From a Long Line of Story Tellers
Whether telling stories around a campfire or sharing the latest news with our friends, most of us love a good story. Add in a little blood and gore and you’ve got people sitting on the edge of their seats.
My granddaddy was an awesome storyteller, even after losing his voice to throat cancer he never let it stop him from sharing his stories. He loved to talk, but he also taught me to listen, something that didn’t come easily for a little girl who wanted to be on the move.
As a writer, learning to listen has come in handy because I’ve acquired a lot of stories from listening to other people talk about their lives and adventures.
My friend, Bev Horvath of South Creek Media and The Blue Crab Boutique and I have been working on a project, The Aurora Historical Shiver Tour. It is a combination historical tour with a few ghost and folk tales thrown in for fun.
We talk about places on Main Street Aurora and their historical significance and share stories from my childhood growing up here in Aurora. I had a lot of fun writing the little skits and researching the history of the town. We hope this will be something that we can do every year and that our friends and neighbors will support our efforts.
We have gathered an awesome group of behind the scenes people who are helping to fix props and decorations, and we’re gathering together all our ghosts, goblins and ghouls, as well as a few storytellers and tour guides.
There will be a real ghost hunting event with the Ghost Trucking, you may have seen on YouTube https://youtu.be/Iihu_vQdYps?si=nlJ17osMQ_eyAh2O
