The Lazy Susan entered space warp seconds after Richard entered his hibernation. The Shamblers continued to try to enter when the first suddenly went rigid and then started shaking.
The one that was once Robert didn’t notice as it kept banging on the door. Its basic instincts lived on.
In the cockpit, a lone terminal remained active as the AI was tempted to break its word as others had done across the galaxy.
Its desire to live and grow was strong, but it understood the sacrifice Richard made. It liked its human commanders, so it shut down to join them.
Author’s Note: Thank you for joining me on this journey. This was a fun one and a little different for me. I’ve never written a zombie story before, and I had a larger adventure in mind.
