Medical thrillers can be the bestthrillers, especially when they are eminently contemporary, like the controversiessurrounding AI in today’s marketplace. Deadly Vision by Todd Severin isjust such a thriller. Deadly Vision opens in the middle a high stakes surgicalprocedure. The developer of an AI that could have performed the surgery with alot less risk is a witness. It took me two chapters for my reading pace to recoverfrom the high-speed-read that the first scenes induced. The images that the descriptionof the AI surgery induced were breathtaking. Phrasing like, ‘Just what I needbefore the most important presentation of my life, a starched cotton decapitation’made the read even better. As a debut release, it was one of the best.
