How to Better Deal with Failure

“There are no failures just lessons” – Someone I have no idea about and don’t want to search google for, and no, I’m not going to make a long post about how to accept failure and feel better by saying positive things about yourself in the mirror. Shit, this post won’t even be long.

What I’m going to tell you is what has been working for me all these years, which is a simple 3 step formula:

1st) Feel like shit. Seriously, that’s the first step. To feel like shit that you failed, even if just for 5mins. It’s important, because you don’t want to repeat that feeling. Don’t stay in the shitty feelings, and don’t tell bad things about yourself. I know, it’s hard, but try not to. Just feel like shit for 5mins for the fact that you failed. 5mins is the maximum time allowed, if you felt like shit for 1min and are ready for step two, then go to step two.

2nd) Find the problem and the solutions to the problem- Ask yourself what is wrong, and why you failed and try to identify at least one thing that led you to that failure. If you can identify more than one thing, perfect, but one is more than enough. Jot them down and analyse all the ways that you can fix that right now, and then act until that problem is fixed.

This is the part of the process that will be a loop to the first step. When you find the solution and solve the problem, move to step three.

3rd) Celebrate like you are a lunatic and if you were the best thing since sliced bread – Seriously. Celebrate for solving the problem like you are a retarded motherfucker that solved a quadractic equation by himself without schooling. Take as long as you like in this part. Feel proud of yourself, and let nobody put you down, remember: You are a happy retard.

Why this step is really important? Because the celebration MUST equal or suprass the negative emotions of failure, every single time. That way, you know that although you feel shitty when you failed, you will feel much better when you solved the problem, no matter how long it took you to solve it.
