Truth Scars

I burned in ashes of obedience
I held the truth in dirty hands
That’s my soul’s contradiction
No friends, no lovers, no mind

No gods, no gatekeepers
just my ink-stained revolt

I know that rebel in the mirror
Her image is becoming clearer
Velvety screams shatter tear-stained glass
The last lie I loved, my final impasse
The weight of knowing draws nearer
I am that rebel in the mirror

I’ll never ask to be forgiven

Smoke like lace around this burning pyre
draped without words of rage or regret
feeding on the question that remains

Truth doesn’t shine

It scars

I know that rebel in the mirror
Her image is becoming clearer
Velvety screams shatter tear-stained glass
The last lie I loved, my final impasse
The weight of knowing draws nearer
I am that rebel in the mirror

I’m unlearning that world
I’m yearning, yearning
for a new way
A phoenix rising

I know that rebel in the mirror
Her image is becoming clearer
Velvety screams shatter tear-stained glass
The last lie I loved, my final impasse
The weight of knowing draws nearer
I am that rebel in the mirror
