Earth Witches Aren’t Easy—Especially When Your Hard Drive Eats the Magic 🔥
I’ve mentioned before that paranormal is one of my favorite genres to write, but here’s a fun fact: urban fantasy was one of my first true loves. Ever since I devoured War for the Oaks by Emma Bull (a lifetime ago and still iconic), I’ve been hooked on worlds where magic hums under the surface of the everyday. Add in a dash of romance? Even better. Urban fantasy with a romantic edge has my whole heart.
So, let’s rewind to one of my earliest and dearest creations—The Chance Monroe Adventures. This series has been with me through everything. The first book, Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, will always have a little extra magic for me. It was one of the very first full-length novels I ever completed—way back in 2001! (Yep, back when floppy disks roamed the earth and “the cloud” was just that fluffy thing blocking your sunshine.)
Here’s the wild part—Earth Witches Aren’t Easy has lived more lives than a cat familiar. My hard drive bricked itself and took the entire manuscript with it. Poof. Gone. So what did I do? Exactly what writers do best—rolled up my sleeves and rewrote it from scratch. Every spell, every snarky quip, every ounce of Chance’s fierce, fight-the-fates energy. And you know what? It came out even stronger the second time around.
This series has everything I love about paranormal storytelling—witches, mayhem, a little mystery, and a heroine who refuses to take “no” from fate, demons, or anyone else. It’s sassy, a little dangerous, and packed with those “I can’t believe that just happened” moments that make me grin while I’m writing them.
Now, I don’t have print versions of the series (yet!), but Chance Monroe Adventures is officially on my makeover list. Fresh, shiny covers are coming—because let’s be honest, even witches deserve a glow-up now and then.
So, your mission—should you choose to accept—is to check out Chance Monroe Adventures, rediscover my urban fantasy/paranormal roots, and maybe send a little witchy energy my way while I work on those new covers.
Old-school charm, spicy magic, and a heroine who knows how to throw a hex? Yeah. Count me all the way in. winks
