My Best Friend Just Died

by E.D.E. Bell

You asked me for a real story. Something true. Something not regurgitated. I think you’ll like this.

It is completely true.

My best friend just died.

Alex was always smiling. They had colorful hair and loved listening to mostly music and sometimes audiobooks. #Cooked

They had criminal charges pending under the Impaired Driver Law even though they never told anyone about that.

I met them to get some answers or at least ideas.

We talked about life, love, and living.

Alex told me if they weren’t so fucked up, they were going to be a nurse. But it was too late now.

Often it is too late to achieve our dreams, and in the pursuit of happiness, we must move on. As Elizabeth II said when she died in 2022, “Grief is the price we pay for love.”

They asked me how to kill themself.

So I told them.
