Gabbi Grey: The Secret Sauce (Contest)
Hello, Delilah! Thank you for welcoming me here to share my new release! I hope you’ll bear with me as I explain the journey for this book.
A Daddy for Christmas 3: Lorcan is my third Daddy/puppy book. When I began my writing career, I’d never heard of this kink. Hell, only into my third year of reading gay romance did I come across this. Now, I’d met puppies in my foray into the BDSM world in Vancouver — so I wasn’t unaware of this kink. But I’d never seen it in action outside of a kink conference and the dungeon floor.
I’ve read “littles” books since — where one partner in the relationship regresses in some way — be it young adult down to infant. I met littles in my time in the kink community. Although curious, that concept didn’t speak to me.
Puppies did. The idea of giving up total control to someone you trust. Of being able to just chase balls, play rope, as well as getting scritches and belly rubs, appealed to me.
Most people are not going to understand that. Which is legitimate. My kink is not your kink, and it’s certainly fine if you’re vanilla.
I continued along my writing journey, writing queer books, novellas, and short stories. I’ve brought sapphic and gay stories to life (as well as MMF and FFM BDSM books under a different pen name). I’ve expanded what I write to fit my interests. I’ve lived my best life.
2024 was my year of hell, yes! Just about every project I was offered, I agreed to do. How could I not? I wanted to see what I could accomplish. (Over 800k words, 9 novels, 2 novellas, a pile of short stories, 6 audios, and 4 short fiction pieces…). My only “no” was, interestingly, a littles series.
A friend approached me to write a Daddy book, and I connected instantly with the idea. But a Daddy/puppy book? That was fine with the organizers, and so I sat down and wrote A Daddy for Christmas 2: Foster. Foster was my first multicultural book — a Black puppy and an Indian Daddy.
Readers LOVED Foster. They continue to show tons of affection for Foster. The reviews were lovely as clearly folks get what I was aiming for. Naturally, when I was offered the chance to write a Daddy/puppy book for Pride, I nabbed that chance. Puppy Pride was another multicultural book — this time flipping the ethnicities. For the record — I have sensitivity readers who read the books and call me out on my errors. Still, if I get something wrong, that’s on me.
And readers and reviewers have enjoyed Puppy Pride. Foster and Jai — as puppies — have won the hearts of my fans. Demetrius and Arnav have proven to be worthy Daddies. There’s a lot of love and heart in these books.
Was I game to write a third book? You bet! I was more organized this time. While writing Puppy Pride, I wrote a character who intrigued me. I introduced him on the first page of the book and I went — oh, yeah, he’s getting a story. I kept that in my mind as I wrote the book. I just had to decide whether Cody was a puppy or a Daddy. Pretty soon, that decision became clear. In the epilogue of Puppy Pride, Cody walks into Club Kink on puppy night. His boss spots him, and speculation arises as to why Cody might be in the club.
Close curtain.
That was my June book. Then I had to sit down and write my Christmas book. I had Cody and I also had Lorcan. I wrote the blurb (without having an idea of the full plot — something I don’t recommend). Then I sat back, waiting for the story to come. Plot Whisperer gave me some great ideas, and I wrote the book.
Phew.
My beta reader fixed it up. My editor made it sparkle. Initial reviews were good.
Still, I’m all nerves today as Lorcan makes his debut.
I can share that he’s a broken man, and Cody is there to support him as he rebuilds his life. Cody doesn’t do the work — this isn’t a love fixes me book. This is two men sharing a kink and slowly building a life where, eventually, they can’t see their lives without each other. Oh, and a rescue puppy and kitty — because, why not?
Have I learned an important lesson? Seed the next book. I’m already signed up for the June Daddy/puppy book. I’ve left a teaser at the end of Lorcan.
I LOVE writing these books. I get to bring a bit of angst, a slow build to love, and a ton of puppy fun to my stories. So that hell, yes! in 2024 was the best thing I ever said. (FYI – 2025 has been a hell, yes year and it looks like I’ll end with 9 books, 3 novellas, a pile of short stories, and 10 audios.) I have no idea what 2026 will wind up looking like — but I have PLANS.
Thank you, Delilah, for letting me share my journey for you. And to your fans for following along.
Contest: I would love to gift a copy of my two previous Daddy/puppy books: A Daddy for Christmas 2: Foster as well as Puppy Pride. Just let me know – is there a trope you’d never heard of before you started reading? One that has either captured your imagination or one that you said ‘nope, not for me’. I can easily say I’d never understood BDSM until I came across a kink author. My life has never been the same. One lucky commentor, chosen by Random, will win. Good luck!

Cody
When I came out as gay at sixteen, things got so rough I was barely making it through my days. A great therapist helped me survive, and even thrive. Now, as a newly minted psychologist, I hope to make that kind of difference for my own patients, LGBTQ or not. Inside though, I have one more secret even my therapist never knew. And finally, I’ve found the courage to attend pup night at Club Kink. I keep telling my clients they need to reach for what’s important to their hearts. Tonight, I’m reaching for mine and hoping I find someone who wants what I have to offer.
This novel is an age-gap, opposites-attract gay romance about what happens when a man who’s given up on life is presented with a chance to start over and the younger man prepared to share that journey with him.
