“Men are such trouble.”

“Yep.”

She blinked then laughed. “No denial.”

“Nope.” Reuben smiled. “Now I’ve seen you again. I plan to see more of you.”

“It’s not a good idea.” Devlin shook her head. “I’m going home after the benefit in a few weeks.”

“Ok.”

She narrowed her eyes. “Such an easy agreement. Why does that make me suspicious?”

“Because you are a smart woman.” Reuben stared into her eyes. “You’re using location as a block to deny this.”

“This.”

“Come now don’t be coy.” Reuben smiled and he knew it was challenge.

Her eyes narrowed even further and her nostril flared. Yeah she knew what it was.

“Are you gonna run from this? I didn’t think you were that sort of woman?”

“You don’t know what sort of woman I am.” She said softly and her tone was deadly.

“Your accent comes out even more when you’re pissed.” Reuben smiled.
