Proofs Positive!

A welcome package arrived yesterday. The author copies I ordered as soon as I uploaded my paperback and had it approved.

One for myself, four to hand out to friends and family.

The trouble was that they were flawed. Since requesting print copies I’d made a couple more revisions to correct errors found by beta readers.

I changed the name of the male protagonist from Alastair Finch to Crispin Shrike and made him a non-fiction writer rather than a historical novelist.

So why, my reader asked, was Carrie hunting through the fiction shelves for authors beginning with F?

Because my global search and replace hadn’t spotted the problem, that’s why.

There are a few other minor errors of punctuation and timing in these books. Some I’ve fixed, some I’ve left.

Not to worry

It’s a learning curve. Not the only copies of my own books I’ve got on my shelf but definitely the most-professional looking.

The paperback books cost actual money to print and post but ebooks are essentially just a string of binary data. Until I get more sales, more reviews, and more titles in the series, I’ve set a price of $1.01 on this book. And indeed on all my ebooks.

Whic means if I want to make serious income I’d best get cracking on more titles.
