Big Nobody
Connie Costa, bursting with teenage hormones and angst, retreats within herself and her imagination after the tragic loss of her Mother and her two younger brothers. Connie’s most private thoughts and feelings are only ever revealed to the posters of famous musicians that line the walls of her bedroom. Navigating trauma alone, surrounded by a Greek family too loud to hear her cries for help, becomes a powderkeg of hurt she can no longer contain. A vengeful fury she has readily aimed at her father for many reasons, and everyone nearby had better brace for the fallout.
The quirky characters in this novel, while not always likable, are all starkly vivid and leap right off the page!
I highly recommend this book to fans of wickedly funny coming-of-age stories, dark humor, and the willful resilience of the human spirit.
I thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of Big Nobody for my unbiased evaluation. 4 stars
