* The Cardinal Ippolito died of a mysterious cause while plotting to remove the first duke of Florence, Duke Alessandro d' Medici.

* The cousin, Lorenzaccio d' Medici died of a mysterious cause in Venice after he fled from Florence.

It was convenient for history books to say they died from mysterious causes. The last book of the trilogy, Love & Venom showed the circumstances surrounding their deaths and speculated what may have caused their deaths given the circumstances surrounding them.
