Meet Cherry.

Hello, hello,

I have a new book coming out this month, and I wanted to make sure to tell you about it.

The book is called CHERRY BABY, and it's another realistic book about adults, in the vein of Landline and Slow Dance. It lands in bookstores April 14th.

I find my books hard to summarize, but here's how The New York Times did it:

"When her husband's semiautobiographical webcomic goes viral, Cherry -- heartbroken by the way it portrays her -- reclaims her life in an emotional journey that's sexy, messy, raw and funny."

You know how the Simon Snow Trilogy is a Chosen One story, but also not? This is a second-chance love story but also not. It's another book that's interested in taking stories and genres apart -- while also hopefully telling a really good story!

It's not a thriller or anything, but I do think you'll enjoy Cherry Baby more if you avoid reading too much about the plot. John Green agrees with me:

If you preorder Cherry Baby, my publisher will send you a very cute cherry bag charm. It doesn't matter where you order it, or whether you buy the paper book, e-book or audiobook. Just submit your receipt here.

Oh, and on the subject of the audiobook, it's narrated by Rebecca Lowman, my audio soulmate. I'm so lucky.

I got lucky with the cover, too. That's Jim Tierney's work. (Jim also designed the Scattered Showers and Slow Dance paperback covers.)

The very best place to preorder the book is the Bookworm, my local indie bookstore. I'll sign and personalize anything you order there. (Signed books make great gifts!)

I'm going on tour for Cherry Baby, and I'd love to see you there. I'm starting on the West Coast this time. Usually, I start in New York City and rarely make it west of Omaha. This year, I'm doing Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago and Omaha. (Get tickets here.)

If you can make it to the Omaha event, it's going to be really special. We're doing it in the Rose Theater (where Shiloh works in Slow Dance!), and the space is just gorgeous. I'm also going to give out some "vintage" merch at that event.

I hope you'll give Cherry Baby a shot, and I really hope you'll like it. I felt like I was trying something different with this book. Like I was reaching out to someone (the reader) (you) and saying, "I have to take you somewhere. Just trust me."

Thank you for trusting me so far,

Rainbow

P.S. Here's one more endorsement, from the incredible Rufi Thorpe, who wrote Margo's Got Money Troubles:

“All the pleasure and kicky-feet excitement of a romance, with all the psychological depth and insight of great literature, Cherry is a heroine for the ages, and Rainbow Rowell is a damn genius.”

Jasmina Hi,

I'm very happy to see your new book is about to be published, and I preordered it as soon as I read the news.

I was looking forward to the charm as well, and was a bit disappointed to learn the promotion is US-only (I'm from Croatia). Is there any way for us outside the US to be included as well?

Thanks and I can't wait to read the novel!

Greetings from Croatia!
