INDIEpendence Author of the day!
Book title: Replay
Author: Keira Lea
Short Blurb: Kelsee Lewis has a new school, a prima donna best friend, and one week to write a hit play. Throw in a self-obsessed mom and an absent executive dad, and it’s no wonder she has panic attacks—complete with time-warp special effects. When Kelsee meets comic book maven Quinn, she realizes the attacks give her the ability to rewind time. Replaying life seems like the best way to erase mistakes. But will second chances leave Kelsee flailing in the orchestra pit alone?

When did you know you wanted to be an author? I wrote my first short story in third grade. I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be an author.
Why do you Indie publish? I love the creative freedom. Traditional publishing companies must consider the cost, potential profit, and the market when selecting manuscripts to publish. On my own, I publish what I want, and I take all the risk. I answer only to my readers and myself.
What inspired you to write your book? Kelsee's character came to me first. After I got to know her, the story simply grew around her.
What are three things you want people to know about you or your book? I love hairless cats; I’m pretty sure they love me, too. People with electric blue hair fascinate me. I have to remind myself at least once a week that characters on my favorite TV shows are not real.
What advice do you have for parents to encourage their kids to read more? My parents let me read any book that I wanted. This gave me a sense of freedom that I relished when I was young. I do the same with my two daughters. If they ever come across subject matter that bothers them, we talk about it. The combination of freedom of choice and open communication encourages my daughters to read more than anything else I've done as a parent.
