Audio Lessons
Here we go again!
I have been getting kitted-up and messing around with audio formats. This involves a lot of reading out loud into strange shaped objects and hating the sound of your own voice.
It did something else too.
It turns out, reading something in your head and reading it out loud are different. You don't need to breathe when reading in your own head, so the punctuation is mental, not physical.
In the interests of not dry drowning in my own sentence structure, or mentally constantly adjusting the punctuation while reading it out loud (bloody tricky it turns out), I re-punctuated the novel for physical reading.
I added some scene spice and other bits and pieces while I was mucking about in there too.
Appying a physical discipline to the writing has improved the overall flow I think. I am also encouraged by a trickle of positive reviews and purchasing activity outside of promotion periods - something is beginning to happen out there.
I will still be tinkering in audio land for a while, so I have decided to give the traditional print version another nudge of marketing and free book promotion on Amazon over the next couple of weeks.
If you never give up, you can never fail. Edition Three is available now.
I have also started writing a novella called the Yellow Hat of Doom (or happiness) - just because...
