Generative Processes

Tuesday afternoon, and time for a little computer music. No artificial intelligence was employed in the generation of these two quick sketches. Yes, generative processes were used, and those processes included bits of randomness, but at every point I made decisions about how much randomness would be employed, and what it would be applied to.

The program used here is VCV Rack. It’s pretty darn amazing, but that’s a story for another time. The first piece is called “See More Glass,” because the main sequencing module is called Glass Pane. (Yes, the phrase is a reference to a story by J. D. Salinger.) The second is called “Banjo Crossing,” because the main module is called Crossing.
