Why I Wrote Creda

For years, I struggled to describe a pattern I kept seeing around me.

It appeared in religious groups, organizations, relationships, online communities, and even some workplaces. The details were different, but the underlying dynamic felt familiar. People often entered these systems seeking belonging, purpose, healing, truth, or success. Yet over time, loyalty became increasingly important, questions became harder to ask, and leaving became more difficult.
I searched for a word that captured this pattern, but none seemed quite right. Terms like cult, manipulation, coercion, and abuse described pieces of it, but not the full picture.

That search eventually led me to create the term Creda.

In my book, Creda: Breaking Free from the Loyalty Trap, I explore how belief, identity, and loyalty can become intertwined in ways that limit freedom and independent thought. The book examines the psychological patterns that appear across many different types of systems while also exploring why intelligent, caring people can become deeply invested in them.

My hope is that Creda provides language for experiences that many people have felt but struggled to explain. Whether you have been part of a high-control group, watched someone you love become trapped in one, or are simply curious about how loyalty and belief shape human behavior, I hope you find something meaningful here.

Thank you for stopping by and joining me on this journey.
