Welcome to the Paul Hemlock Author Journal

When I began writing Staff of Gold, I wasn't simply interested in creating an adventure story.

What fascinated me was a question that has stayed with me for years: how much of history remains undiscovered?

Across the world there are lost cities, forgotten expeditions, unexplained artefacts, and historical mysteries that continue to challenge what we think we know about the past. The deeper I researched, the more I realised that history is rarely finished. New discoveries continue to reshape our understanding of events we often assume are settled.

That fascination became the foundation for Staff of Gold.

This journal will be a place where I share some of the research, historical curiosities, and inspirations behind my novels. I'll also post updates on future projects, including the development of Staff of Balance and other historical adventures currently in progress.
