First Update!
Hey everyone!
I hope you're all doing well — and if you're here because you've read The Aethyrborne or Whispers of the Uncharted Green, thank you. Genuinely. Every review, every rating, every message means more than I can say.
I've been busy. Like, really busy. Here's what's cooking (pun very much intended):
📖 AETHYRBORNE BOOK TWO is underway! We're following Arduin on his way to the Academy, where political intrigue is already waiting for him with open arms and a knife behind its back. Net is back, living among the Sylvian and wrestling with some big questions about identity and belonging. And Sarissa? She's fighting to hold onto her position within the Empire, and Sarissa does not go down without a fight. It's bigger, messier, and I am having the time of my life writing it.
🐉 SHORT STORY: "Sautéing Monsters into Oblivion". Yes, this is real. A crew of Gastromancers sets out to accomplish what no one has ever done: cook a dragon before it cooks them. It's a cozy cooking fantasy ensemble comedy, and it is exactly as chaotic and delightful as it sounds. I cannot wait to share this one, though it's in the back of the queue for now.
🚢 SHORT STORY: Untitled (for now) A cruise ship. Trapped in a void. Sailing endlessly through nothing. The passengers keep going through the motions of their regular cruise activities, blissfully (or not so blissfully) ignoring the reality of their situation. There's something deeply strange and quietly unsettling about this one, and I'm obsessed with it. Is it a love story, is it a murder mystery! Not even I know, yet.
⚡ NEW NOVEL (concept stage): I'm not ready to say much yet — but picture this: Punk Rock meets Cree Mythology meets Kaiju Battles. That's all I'm giving you for now. Sit with it.
Lots more to come. If you want to stay in the loop, follow me here on Goodreads or find me at linktr.ee/rathwell.books.
Thanks for being here. Now go add something to your TBR. 📚
