(From the book Familiar Spirits … coming soon)
A butterfly takes time to grow
before it’s given the wings to fly.
Maybe that’s what this love story has always been.
Love was never the issue.
Connection was never the question.
Timing was.
“In due time,” they say.
But no one tells you
that timing can feel like an empty room.
Like waiting while still allowing yourself to live in the present.
Like refusing to build your life
around a maybe.
Like searching for pieces of someone in people who were never meant to fit.
So I keep growing.
Trusting that the unseen
is preparing me for the moment
my wings are finally ready.
And when they are…
I’ll stop wondering where home is.
Like a butterfly I’ll spread my wings and fly back to you.
