In my previous post, I said I was going to try something new, namely that my Nashville-based PI Jackson Gamble was going to take on a partner, former Nashville police homicide detective (now off the force) named Lorraine Proctor. So, it would have been the first in a new "Proctor and Gamble" series, although all the main characters would be continuing from the earlier books. So...here's the problem: I am 5,000 words into the new book, and I have no idea what is the actual story. I have the daughter of a tech millionaire gone missing, but at this point, I don't know where she went, or why, or really anything else. I wonder if this is a common problem with other writers, and will work itself out, or if I just doomed to spend the rest of my life starting at a keyboard and a story line stuck in Chapter Five.
