Until We Meet Again…

Whenever I feel overwhelmed by life, I think about the vast expanse of our world and how easy it is in some places to feel alone. To feel like there is enough oxygen for us all. The Namib Desert is one of those places. It is an AWE-some (in the truest sense of the word) open space.
I can’t say I loved climbing that dune, but I did it anyway and CAN say I loved how small it made me feel to stand on its crest. Like a single grain of sunburnt sand. What a wonder to see a lone Oryx plodding steadily over the dunes in the distance. The two of us a momentary blip in each others’ lives. And then gone. What is this thing we call life, anyway? Maybe you can tell me.
I’m taking leave from the blog for a few weeks, and looking forward to sharing some wonderful books coming this Fall. So stay tuned!

Maybe I’ll just hang out at this house and look out over the ocean for awhile…I’ve got a picture book to finish revising. And a novel to ponder before I take the leap into its messy first draft. Like staring down at the water from a 10 meter platform. What is just below the surface? I need to find out.
Hope the rest of your summer treats you well!
