another old Bujold interview surfaces
Just listened to this YouTube... reprint, it would be called in paper publication, of a 1998 interview. Repost, I suppose. Wow, have I been answering the same questions for a lotta of years...

This captures a moment when Komarr was just out (the interviewer had not yet read it), A Civil Campaign was being written, and the Chalion/Five Gods were not yet even on my mental horizon.

Listening is so slow compared with reading, but in this case I made the effort to listen to the whole half hour, and it was quite interesting. It was at an significant moment in your writing career: Miles starting his civilian career in “Komarr” (such a good novel), and the World of the Five Gods apparently not yet conceived, but coming quite soon. “The Curse of Chalion” was published in August 2001, so I guess you were starting to think about it sometime in 1999.

OBTW, I began 'Paladin of Souls' tonight. I adored 'The Curse of Chalion.' I have great expectations.
