Currently halfway through Chapter Five. The draft ahead is starting to grow clearer with each new sentence I finish, but we're a while off completing the project yet.
To be completely honest: I'm terrified.
After finishing the first book, I found it difficult to celebrate what I had managed to achieve. Now that I'm shin-deep into the sequel, I'm feeling a different kind of pressure. I want people who invested themselves in the first book to be satisfied with where the story is going.
If I'm being reasonable, I have absolute faith that the story has merit and is heading in the right direction. The doubt is almost a co-writer during the draft process, and that feeling needs to be acknowledged at points in order to keep moving in the right direction. The art is in knowing when to ignore it, and trust yourself to keep going.
As I keep gaining momentum, it gets easier to move ahead. And so we're here: 20k words in the making, with a significant amount left to go!
Hopefully, none of us will be waiting long to see what comes next.
