2026 Reading Material: August

An extremely quiet reading month. But extremely active on the writing front.
The writing in question has, as I have indicated, been poetry. At the time of writing, The Lay of Notich Serpent Tongue now sits at 4,867 lines of blank verse, or some 37,500 words. Over the month of August, that is nearly 3,000 lines and 23,000 words added – extremely productive.
Nor is it the only poetry project this month: I’ve been rendering an unpublished prose story of mine (Through the Veil of Mist) into verse, and am about 150 lines in. This is actually more old-school than blank verse, since the popularity of blank verse for English verse (as opposed to drama) only dates to Milton. Here, I am venturing back past Milton, and am writing rhyme royal. No one ever does that these days.
