Impossible to Forget

Impossible to Forget

Lake Skadar was asheet of water stitchedtogether with lily pads.Lotus blossoms rose.Gold with endless green,as dragonflies flickered.Here. There. Gone.
Large pelicans andcolorful ducks madetheir quiet pathsthrough the water, while magpies crossedthe sky in quick burstsof black and white.
Several blue herons stoodpatiently motionlessat the edge of the marsh. Then, with a calmauthority, they eachglided over theshimmering water.
Among the weatheredboats, the great lakereflected the sky.Not far away a manwith his eyes closed, slept peacefully andswayed in a hammock.
Cows grazed on patchesof land and their presenceis a reminder that thiswild landscape is alsoa place where peoplehave lived beside nature for generations.
For an hour, my worldfelt vastly unhurried. The lake was not a placeto visit, but a place toquietly witness beautyand come alivein the moment.
I was exactly whereI needed to be,exploring thissun-kissed day. It's forever written into the landscape of my memory.
A lastingimprint on my soul.Impossibleto forget.
