Another adaptation of an early 70s British sitcom, Nearest and Dearest actually does attempt a cohesive story, but once again I’m confronted by a comedy that never once makes me laugh. I can see where the humor is, but it’s so minor and incidental. Much like the On the Buses films, there appears to be no effort to actually make the sitcom feel bigger. It feels like one long episode of a mildly entertaining sitcom that was stretched well beyond its limits.
