A spring update
Spring has sprung where I live: beautiful flowers, singing birds, warm weather, and all the farms I live near have baby animals, which makes my heart ever so happy.

I’ve been deep in the query trenches with my YA sci-fi adventure, seeking representation. It’s a fun romp across an alien planet with my main character, whose DNA has been altered to breathe the toxic air. The only problem is that anyone who shows signs of genetic difference is destroyed, because Earth was wrecked by mutant zombies. My beta readers have likened it to Studio Ghibli’s Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
I’ve been reworking my YA fantasy that’s been 10 years in the making to give my main character more agency. This is one of my favourite full-length pieces I’ve ever written. Honestly, I think fantasy has always been where my heart lies.
And, and, and … I’ve been concepting a new story!! Because everyone knows the one thing that keeps you sane while querying is starting a new project. Shiny distractions and all that. (not really working) It’s also a YA fantasy, but this one leans more towards heist than political intrigue.
It’s been a rough few months with my RSD. When it hits hard, I tend to withdraw from the public eye, but we’re working on that. If you have a good strategy, I’d love to hear about it.
