Wow.
Well. It's been a long stretch since my last post. I realize the world doesn't turn on my blog posts (lucky thing) but that's a bit longer than I'd like.
If you're reading this, then thanks for still being around.
What's been going on?
Well, a lot, actually. For one thing, my wife has taken on the role of Director of Marketing for Code 4 Press, which really means she's doing the bulk of the marketing for my books. She's already doing better than I ever did.
I've been teaching leadership (again) since 2024, I helped rewrite the textbook for the course and did some other curriculum work, so that has been eating up a fair amount of my time.
That doesn't mean I haven't been writing. I'll do a "year in publishing" post in January but it hasn't been an empty year where writing is concerned. I've also developed a solid plan for all of my existing (and future) series.
One thing I've had to do as a result of the teaching is pull back from my conference attendance. I haven't been to a Bouchercon, Left Coast Crime, or PSWA conference in the past year or longer. I miss the camaraderie and the nuggets of wisdom, but life is a trade off, and I've had to prioritize.
That's probably why this blog hasn't been getting regular updates. I do put things out on social media (you can follow me on FB, IG, etc.) but those are snippets rather than actual posts.
I'm curious, actually -- how much do you actually care about blog posts from the authors you follow? Have you missed updates coming in this forum, or is it not as important as social media, or simply putting out the books?
Let me know.
