First of all, thank you for being here 🖤

I am Devyn Leighton--a 24 years old, Canadian, a proud survivor of my high school boyfriend, and am currently pursuing an education in Precision Medicine. I write when I’m supposed to be sleeping, paint when I should be packing, and travel whenever I get the chance.

I have always loved writing, and I am still bitter about getting a B+ in the third grade for being "too ambitious".

This journey oficially began in 2024, when I started journalling poems and writing about my insecurity and fear around leaving. I released these unedited poems online (now in the collection An Autopsy of Us) and received an outpouring of love and support. I learned through various messages from readers that my words gave them courage, that my story helped them find the strength to leave. That still makes me prouder than anything else I’ve done.

I am now in a happy, healthy relationship with my fiance we have nicknamed “PingPong”, and am falling back in love with the world and myself. My work ranges from the dark pages of my childhood journal, to love letters to a life I didn’t think I’d get to live, fiction, and everything inbetween.

I also founded The Alchemist's Cabin on Substack, for other artists and writers to share their work!
