spurious
Today I deleted a review that was dated several days ago in my "My Books" section. I did not write it and have no idea how it showed up among my record of books read and reviewed. Nor did I read it. My wife had. She said the review sounded like my writing, although she had been surprised by it since she had not noticed me reading anything by Turgenev.
The author of the book was clearly listed as Turgenev. The title was presented in something other than Latin script; I did not look at it long enough to see whether it was in Cyrillic, or Arabic, or something from further in Asia.
The fact the purported review showed up in my feed could have been some kind of error originating with Goodreads. It conceivably could also have been the work of a hacker diligent enough to mimic my writing style, the work of AI, or the work of a hacker aided by AI.
Whatever the case, it means I will have to watch what appears on the "My Books" page, and wonder if anyone else has encountered or will encounter a similar problem.
