Treasure
i found a treasure in a garbage bin,
a tarnished heart with a charming grin.
i took it home, believing it was gold,
a hidden wonder waiting to unfold.
i polished it gently, gave it a place,
but darkness returned beneath its grace.
the more i healed, the more it decayed,
until the light in my own heart began to fade.
then i discovered, beneath the grime,
the heart was a mirror reflecting mine.
i wasn’t saving treasure buried in the dirt
i was learning my worth by leaving what hurt.
