A new beginning

Hello friends. I was reading recently about a woman who is about to run her first half-marathon. FIrst she did a Couch to 5k program with a local running club, and then lo and behold a mere six months later she is ready for 13.1 miles. She was giving advice to other non-runners about how to get started. I have always wanted to be a runner, but have never stuck to it for more than 3 months at a time. Anyway, one of her bits of advice was to sign up for a race and start a blog charting your progress. This way you are accountable, but also open to encouragement from others.
On this same note, I am woefully behind on book #2. And #3 for that matter. Both exist in my head, and Book #2 has even had a draft which was scrapped. To say my writer's block is at an all time high would be an understatement.
So, I am starting this blog to keep the conversation going as I begin writing my next book. It is a sequel to my first.
I have been in the outer banks of north carolina for a week, trying to quiet the voices of everyday life enough so I can hear the creative ones again. Slowly, I feel the wheels turning again and that familiar pull to my keyboard, the excitement of a story that wants to be told.
Let's face it, life gets in the way. "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans". I had planned to write another book right away, then was sidetracked by a screenwriting career, the dream of making a movie out of my book, health issues and the realties of earning a living when your dream just ain't cuttin' it. It's time to put all that aside and call on that part of me that loves to tell a story. Loves to suck the reader in to my world and keep them there ---living and breathing right along with me.
And I need your help. Encouragement. Input. advice. I just need to know you are there.
I'll do my part. I just need a thumbs up every now and again, because the second time is harder. Much harder. Even though I don't understand why.

Thanks for reading. See you again soon
