Alexander Vassilieff This story is true. I know as I have lived through some of it. It is an inspiring immigrant saga that traverses two continents and three countries over a two hundred year period. A series of families experiencing from good times to political oppression, perils of death and loss of ones homeland and family and finally the finding of a new place in Sydney Australia to ultimately call it home.

ODYSSEYA is biography of mysteries - a page turner. Here is one of the mysteries - Harbin China where my family lived was spared three times from bombings - First by the Japanese then by the Soviets and finally by the Americans. Each time a mysterious fog spread over the city. Mystery or a miracle?

Alexander Vassilieff "I think that by writing your personal story you have given voice to so many of us who share a cultural and historical background. It must have taken a lot of courage and, of course, blood, sweat and tears, to give such a detailed historical description and to write so honestly, and with compassion, about your family and your own path in life.
When I finished reading the book I couldn't help thinking of another apt Russian saying: жизнь прожить - не поле перейти! - To live a life – is more than crossing a field!"
