So today I was messaged by someone that is interested on taking a few of the stories from At the Gates of Madness and turning them into a Creepshow-type movie. They wanted to take 5 stories, The Creek, Madcap, Treats, The Little Bastards and A Long As It Ends and turn them into short movies.
It sounds great, then I looked closer at the offer.
They want me to give them the rights to each story completely, giving up all control over them.
They want me to give them the stories as a "for the love", and make it possible to get a max of 2% of any profit from it.
I won't get a chance to read or approve the script or anything they decide to do with the material.
They also want to call the movie "(the director's name)'s Gates of Madness.
I don't think I am digging the idea. This is my first collection of stories and as much as I would love to see my ideas and images on screen, I don't really like the idea of losing all control over my first "child" and seeing it murdered, reformed and potentially destroyed by someone.
I feel as though I may just have to say no to this in the long run.
