This book changed my way of writing forever. It's a wonderful story and beautifully written. When I wrote the draft of my first children's story "Hammie Goes to School" in August 2006, it was told in the third person. I then came across a copy of my old favourite pig story, Charlotte's Web and sat down to reread it from a learning point of view. Just in the first few lines, I realised what I was doing wrong with my writing. In Charlotte's Web the characters tell the story, which in my opinion is much more enchanting to the reader than a story told as the third person. I have now written 17 stories for children, letting the characters have their say and I think it works well. Charlotte's Web is definitely one of my very favourite children's stories and one I will always treasure.
