Um. . .what just happened here? You are such a bully, Richard Rider! And just to show you what a bully you are, I'm going to join Goodreads and write some inane comments about judging people and illegally downloading your books for free. Well played, fangirls. . .well played.*No, I'm not on your side, kids (sarcasm). Instead of writing comments, you should 1) BUY the book (you're stealing) and 2) Read the book. It's really good, and a much better use of your time.
Oh dear... let the hate mail begin!1) People have been linking me to posts where these children are passing around illegal pdfs and torrent information, which makes me not give one single shit about their feelings.
2) Those boys have not read my books, are not in love, and that tattoo has nothing whatsoever to do with some random on the internet who writes melodramatic porn. Fact.
3) If you think this is bullying you have very spoiled brat lives. I don't recall ever telling anybody to go and give anybody else some hell over this. I'm just reporting, because it made me laugh. You're entitled to your opinions about whether or not those boys are in love, but I'm equally as entitled to think this whole situation is utterly ridiculous.
Holy shit. Really?! Bullying? XD Richard - thanks for the laugh. :) I remember all too clearly how it was to be an overexcited teenager, so I get where they come from, but I never let myself go nearly as far as this... I like my solid facts too much. :D
I know! The only time I've spoken to any of them on their patch was a polite request to remove unauthorised download links. The rest was a quick hour of observation and baffled laughter, then I woke up to abuse and death threats o.O
I, too, was completely confused, but then again all these accounts were created today with no friends and no books. More than likely it's one person. I found this post hilarious. Like I said above, I laughed my ass off.
I am confused because, in my opinion, it is wrong to publicly mock a person or group of people you consider to be insane or somehow mentally or emotionally unstable. Especially if you are an adult and they are children.
Oh please. If I genuinely thought they were mentally unstable I wouldn't have said anything. I see nothing wrong in being hyperbolically amused at an absurd and funny situation. I didn't send any cronies to abuse those people, I didn't call anybody out by name or link to anybody's post. This is my blog. This is where my thoughts go. I refuse to censor what I think for the benefit of people who are illegally sharing my books and telling me to die of aids.I also find it hilarious and really weird that people are offended by what I said, but don't think it's at all inappropriate to speculate in this much depth and/or write elaborate fan fiction about the gay sex lives of teenage boys.
It seems that there might also be a very complex discussion beneath all of this regarding "insanity" vs. "childish fantasies" vs. the prospect that perhaps children and teenagers are in some cases extremely insightful and perceptive. Richard, it is obviously completely legitimate for you to be very angry that your work has been read and shared illegally.
I agree the discussion could be interesting, but in the history of real person fan fiction has anybody EVER been right? I don't think so. It's just funny to me because I'm not Stephen King or JK Rowling. I can guarantee my book (readership: about 100 people worldwide ever) has nothing to do with this. The idea that people can grab onto such a tiny, unlikely thing and build it up into something huge is what I was posting about. My dislike for slashing real people together is a totally different issue.
Richard wrote: ".. then I woke up to abuse and death threats o.O"Yeah, I saw those.... I just can't comprehend how could anyone say those things to others?! o.o And for such frivolous reasons. Jeez!
You don't know anything about those two boys or their relationship whatsoever. I do think relating his tattoo with your book is far fetched, but calling all of them "delusional" and tell them they are living in a "fantasy" when you know absolutely nothing about this topic is what got me. No one is living in the world of fan fiction as you called it, i can assure you of that. Every proof that lead them to the conclusion that they are in a relationship is very, crushingly real. :)
I will bet my life and everything I own that you're all wrong, but even if you weren't: how the hell is it any of your business? You're clearly all lucky enough never to have been spitefully outed before you were ready or you'd back off, just like all the morons wishing aids and cancer on me now clearly have no experience of that either. This kind of mania about insisting on labels for strangers' relationships is so troubling. Do you do it in real life as well? What if you thought a boy you knew was secretly gay even though he publicly went out with women, would you still act like your happiness depended on outing him and shrieking his private business around the Internet? It's so disgusting and disturbing to me, and your insisting that it's ~real~ and not just fanfic is so much worse.

Even when I was active in the fanfiction community in my teenage years, I didn't write RPS and I wasn't a massive fan of it because it always felt a little bit ooky to me to play games with real people. It creeps me out beyond belief that these boys have fans who will actually believe/insist that their fiction is REAL. Even assuming for a moment the possibility that they could be gay, fangirls gleefully trying to out somebody for their own pleasure is nothing short of disturbing.
Thank you for the laughs, Richard! I'm with you and everything you've said in every post :) *Hugs*Since I've only just found the other 'rubbish' that's been happening recently aka writers/reviewers, I hesitate to even comment anywhere near something like this; but *shaking head* I'm not surprised that teens and/or other people blow up out of all proportion something that really is none of their business.
As an 'old fogey' I can say "what on earth is happening to our society?"; as a life-experienced senior citizen I can say "haven't they got anything better to do?" - but dammit, I just wish people would take more care in what they say on the internet!
Never mind: back to my hidey-hole; hugs and cuddles if you need/want them :)
Thank you!I've (thankfully) managed to miss any other drama that's been going on. I'm going to hide under my blankets until everybody learns to play nice ;)
Kids have absolutely no respect for their elders these days, thieving little reprobates. Also, I'm still convinced that it's Louis Walsh they're talking about ;-)
Hi, talented. I fucking love your books (I can’t call them dirty books it’s just so more than that) and I literally spent all my money on them (definitely worth it, after all culture is paramount) so yeah, being a 1D fan idiot is just a beautiful occurrence to me.(you see there are idiots who buy your three wonderful books) (and not in a digital version)
(cause I do need to properly h.a.v.e. the books I'm fond of)
Anyways, thank you very much for sharing your writing skills.
