70+ hate mails overnight! \o/

I thought this went without saying so I didn't mention it in that other post, but PLEASE don't go and fight with those people. Some of the pms were legitimate concerns that I've put together some kind of Internet brute squad to go and do battle with them when I thought it was pretty clear I was just reporting. I really hope any full on arguments over there are people doing it of their own accord, not people who think I need my wars fighting for me. I find it all baffling and hilarious more than anything. I dont care what they say, I'm more troubled by the number of PDFs being blithely passed around as if the minuscule profit I make from these things isn't my mortgage money. This I WILL fight. Any more I see will be reported to Tumblr or the host service, not that I think it'll do any good. It never has before.

More gems when I get home later (I'm too cackhanded with my new phone to figure out copy/pasting) but I've been advised to:

* die of aids
* drown myself
* slit my wrists and die

and several dozen more, so I think maaaaybe the people crying bullying should look at their peers' behaviour first. Why the hell would I NOT comment on people talking about my books like they're part of some massive gay conspiracy theory? Of course I'm going to have opinions on something so absurd.

I'm serious, though - watch them if you want, laugh if you want (I know I'll be laughing over this for months), but I'll be pissed as hell if people go and fight with them on my behalf. Please and thank you. x

Erin *hugs* Think of the fun Lindsay would have if this happened to him. :D

Dani Alexander Oh, damn, Richard. I'm sorry this is happening to you =( *sigh*

Them hatemailing you, coming to your house(blog) to scream at you and then calling YOU the bully...oh the irony, it kills.

A Being the parent of soon to be teenagers, this kind of thing scares the hell out of me. I've learned a lot about cyber-bullying, but certainly not from anything YOU said.

Richard Rider Thanks for the backup! I'm honestly not bothered by it, it takes a bit more than gobby abusive children to upset me, but it's still worrying. Does the mob say that kind of shit to younger & more vulnerable people who disagree with them as well? It's sickening. And at the risk of sounding like a grumpy pensioner: where the hell are all their parents? They should probably pay more attention to what kind of novels their 13-year-olds are illegally reading, and what kind of bile they're spewing. If my mum heard or saw me tell someone to kill themself or catch aids she'd wallop me even at age 28, and I'd deserve it too ;)

Richard Rider It's funny, both times I've ever been flamed/threatened to this level have been on Tumblr ;) That's the main reason I never go there any more unless someone links me to a picture or whatever, there are far too many hateful crazy children forming ridiculous mobs to go at people with pitchforks and burning torches. I grew out of that shit when I was 11 :P

I realise not everyone is like that, though. It seems the same everywhere online - you get amazing, creative, friendly people and you get unbelievable idiots, there's hardly ever anything in between.

Jess I'm glad you have such a positive attitude towards all the hate... I'm not sure I'd be quite as strong in your situation!! *Huuuuug*
