Very soon, some of the people of European background, here in Perth Western Australia, will celebrate Christmas in July, when the weather is, all things being equal, quite cold. July here in the Southern Hemisphere is our winter. When December 25th comes around, it is our summer and usually quite warm.

That said, when I went to the UK in July 1999, I went there in our winter, and arrived in their summer. The weather was the same. I dressed according to the weather forecast on the international news channel on TV. It was the same temperature for me and sometimes I was cold, and when it rained in Northern Ireland, the raindrops were so cold they felt like needles.
