I'm back . . .
At least that's the story I'm going with. After a combination vacation/conference which caused the charming husband and I to drive down the California coast (in an attempt to get from Point A to Point B), and that followed the end of my final tax season, and then for the past week I've been recovering from all of that . . . while hoping for a good outcome for those on the east coast.
So much going on everywhere, and sometimes I just want to hide from the world and let it all go on without me. Ever feel that way?

The more I write on mental illness, the more motivated I am to write more about it. My writing feeds off itself, and with publication of An Uncommon Friendship, I find that there really is a need for the companion book: The Caretaker's Survival Guide. When we take care of others there are certain things we need to be aware of, such as how much stress we're under, and we need to take care of ourselves in order to take care of others. When we don't pay attention to that we can end up like I did: Broken, broken down, empty, bordering on needing some pretty significant mental health care myself.
We grow with our experiences, and my growth is taking me in a different direction. Write more books, publish more books, research more. I want to understand these illnesses the best I can, so I can help others understand them. ...more
