I love seeing people posting rates and reviews on my books and stories. It's always nice to see what people think of what they read, especially something I have worked so hard on. So far I have lucked out and have not received any serious criticism. Sure I have received my share of rejection letters, but that's all part of the game.
Yet what I love even more is when someone sends me a personal email about something I wrote. Reading something that pushes you that hard to contact the writer instead of just leaving a comment or a review is a pretty cool thing. It has been happening more and more lately, but none have been as sweet and as touching as the one I received about my story, Shelly's Tape.
Someone send me an email about how the story touched them on such a personal level, reminding them so much of a friend they had lost to suicide. She went on to tell me that she had never read such a subtle ghost story in her life that had no intentions on scaring the reader, but making them think instead. I thought she was being very sweet and responded to her right away.
