Amazon causes a lot of this stuff. They often write exclusivity clauses into their contracts. This is why I don't own a kindle, don't download their software, and will never - ever - buy books from them. I don't like the way they try to monopolize a market.Companies that try to do monopolies only offer sweet deals until they have the market controlled, then they make you their bitch.

I agree with the Nook owners here. Kindle isn't the only e-reader out there. It would be nice if authors remember that. Maybe if Lara Adrian had put her book out on Smashwords or something, that would make it better for everyone, since Smashwords has several different downloading options. In the meantime, I guess I'll have to pass on her book. As much as I love her Midnight Breeds series, I was hoping to get into another series of hers. (sigh) Oh, well...
Thank you Lara though I love my paperbacks it's good to know till they come out in paperback format they are there in eformat thank you ♥
Hi, everyone! Thanks for all the feedback and downloads of my book. I woke up this morning to find Heart of the Hunter in the Top 100 bestselling free Kindle books -- all the way up in the #3 spot! Amazing!!Just to clarify, I am not a fan of exclusivity either, and I hate that anyone feels left out or slighted. But this was a book that's been available on all ebook e-reader platforms since the beginning of April 2012. In September, in the hopes of creating new awareness of my Dragon Chalice medieval PNR series, I put the first book in the Kindle Select program because Amazon is currently the only retailer that offers authors a free/promo period on indie titles.
My 90-day Select period on Heart of the Hunter ends on 12/4, at which time the book will go back up for sale on all platforms again, joining the rest of my backlist titles, which remain available at all major retailers for all e-reader devices.
I will also have trade paperbacks available on all 7 of my backlist titles in December.
Thanks again to all for the feedback, and for the interest in my books!
Hugs,
Lara :)

Plus they don't have the selection of Amazon. I will never shop there.
Thanks Lara for the book. I don't have any kind of external reading device like Kindle or Nook. I downloaded the Kindle PC app on my computer. It is harder to sit here at the computer and read a book than to have it in your hand and read it anywhere. I guess I will finally have to buy one just so I can read all the e books that my authors I like are putting out there now.
Happy, happy to get my hot little hands on another one of your books. A gift to all of us since it is free for now. Thanks.

Well i hope you consider tha..."If your (or your daughter's nook) is non-functioning, Barnes & Noble will replace it. My nook color had problems. I called. They could not fix it online, so offered me the choice to have them mail me a new one or pick it up in a store. I picked it up in a store with no problems. I can read my nook books on my books on my nook, my droid phone or my computers. When I was new with my original nook I accidently bought a ebook that cost over $40. I called B&N and they canceled the charge and were very nice about it. I first choose the nook because it supported the public library system and downloaded new books directly to my nook. It is only after a lot of pressure that kindle is supporting ebooks from library.

Free ebook alert! Between now and November 27th, Heart of the Hunter, Book 1 in my Dragon Chalice medieval paranormal series, is available for free at
