Alamo in the Ardennes: The Untold Story of the American Soldiers Who Made the Defense of Bastogne Possible by
John C. McManusMy rating:
5 of 5 starsDefinitely one of my favorite books about the Bulge. McManus makes you feel like you're there, in the foxhole with the men of the 28th Infantry Division. His style kept the pace flowing, and I read this book in a couple of sittings. In addition to his storytelling, McManus was diligent in the use of sources. His notes in the back show that this is more than a good read. It is also the authoritative work on this period of time when the Germans almost took Bastogne before the 101st arrived.
