A much dreaded post

I have been dreading this post for over a month now and I simply cannot put it off any longer. I promised you all I would publish the prequel to the No Shelter Trilogy by the end of January, but that is not going to happen. I’ve had to postpone the prequel indefinitely.

It makes me very sad to have to do that because I feel I’m letting you all down, but I’ve decided to take a break from writing post-apocalyptic and dystopian for a while. I don’t expect everyone to like everything I write, but the negative sales and feedback I’ve endured on the No Shelter Trilogy lately is quite disheartening. I’ve decided to write other stuff for a while until I can work up the nerve to go back to writing sci-fi.

In the end, I need to do what is best for me and my family and my sci-fi trees just don’t bare enough fruit for us to survive, or even the promise of more fruit. It may be that I’m just not meant to be a sci-fi writer or that I’m just experiencing a slump, but I’m very driven and determined when it comes to my career and I refuse to allow a change of genre to stop me from living my dream of being a writer.

I will be writing other stuff under another pen name. If you are sincerely interested in my other work, please feel free to contact me and I will fill you in on my latest projects.

I’m sorry if I’ve disappointed anyone. I hope you’ll accept my sincerest apologies.

Stephanie Mutone Why would you ever think you have to stay with one genre or that you would disappoint if you wrote something different? You are gifted at telling stories. Just be yourself and let your creative mind flow and you will find success. Message me your new pen name so I can keep up with your work. I like all kinds of genres.

Grammar*Kitten I, for one, will be very excited to see how you translate your wonderful writing style and character building skills into other genres - the best of luck with whatever you decide to write next :)

I do also sincerely hope you return to dystopian thrillers one day, because yours are by far some of the best developed and intriguing ones I have ever read. I love an author that doesn't give me the ending I 'want' and you sincrely fulfilled this for me!

Tania Thanks so much to all of you for your comments. Andrea, I do hope to return to dystopian to write the sequel to Darklandia, fingers crossed, by this summer. :)

Nancy Smith Sorry to hear this. I absolutely loved "No Shelter". I just finished the trilogy today and went looking for more dystopian fiction written by you. I came across Darklandia and almost purchased it until I realized there was a sequel that is not out yet, and may not be coming out at all. I never read a book series that isn't complete yet. I hope it will be soon. While I'm here, I have to say that I wasn't crazy about how No Shelter ended, but still, that trilogy was so hard for me to put down, I was totally engrossed, putting aside everything else I was supposed to be doing to keep reading. Loved it!!

Grammar*Kitten Nancy, Darklandia is a pretty good one in it's own right - when I read it I wasn't even aware that a sequel may/may not be planned, and the ending was plenty satisfying as it was! I'd definitely recommend giving it a go anyway!

Nancy Smith Andrea, thanks for the comment, and I appreciate your input. Based on what you're telling me, I just might read Darklandia after all. I love the title, it's very intriguing. I didn't feel ready to let go of this author just yet, but I didn't want to be left hanging either. I just loved No Shelter sooooo much, my favorite Dystopian series so far. I liked your comments on it regarding the end, and I agree. Although it didn't end the way I may have wanted, the shock value in the end was part of how great the series was. We had hints along the way, but still it was shocking for me. Also I thought the epilogue was genius in how it softened the blow in a way.
